With extensive experience in the GDS Design System, I specialise in creating user-centred content. I take a consensus-building approach to working in multi-disciplinary teams.
I'm technically minded and have written API documentation, and am capable of prototyping in code, writing HTML in the GOV.UK prototype kit and using Markdown in Whitehall publisher.

Exploring the themes of direct language, social communication and special interests, this talk takes a personal and sometimes humorous look at the parallels between autism and content design, from the perspective of one autistic content designer.
Facing a problem with a process, a relationship or an obstacle to your work? A Y-shaped approach allows you to understand and solve the problem, immediately and in the future.
The audience are taken through an empathy lab exercise to put themselves in the shoes of autistic users. They are given challenges that emulate the difficulties with working memory, executive function, communication, social interaction and overstimulation that some autistic people can face - especially those with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)
